What is Vet-Stem Regenerative Medicine?
Regenerative medicine uses a concentrated form of autologous adipose-derived adult stem cells to treat traumatic and degenerative diseases, including bowed tendons, ligament injuries, osteoarthritis, and osteochondral defects in dogs.
Vet-Stem provides a quick-turnaround laboratory service that enables veterinarians to utilize Vet-Stem Regenerative Cells (VSRCs) in animals. We accomplish this within 48 hours after collection of a fat sample.
Day One:
The veterinarian collects a small fat sample (about two tablespoons) from the patient. The sample is shipped priority overnight to the Vet-Stem laboratory in San Diego, California.
Day Two:
Vet-Stem processes the fat sample, concentrates the the patient’s own stem cells. The cells are shipped priority overnight, back to the veterinarian, in ready-to-inject syringes.
Day Three:
The veterinarian injects the stem cells directly into the injured site.
APPLICATIONS:
Canine orthopedic application:
Osteoarthritis: hips, stifles (knees), elbows …
Orthopedic soft tissue: tendon and ligament injuries
Internal medicine applications: Besides the overwhelming scientific data demonstrating the clinical efficacy of regenerative cellular therapy in animal models of osteoarthritis,7 osteochondral defects,8 tendon repair,5,9 and fractures,10-12 many additional studies demonstrate success in treating systemic disorders such as cerebral and myocardial infarction,13,14 muscular dystrophy,15 and immune-mediated disorders.19-21 Based on these studies, Vet-Stem is developing protocols to treat internal medicine conditions.
